Joe seems to slightly misunderstand the breathing method. Wim says to inhale fully and then let it go. Joe repeatedly says to only exhale, “just a little bit.” Wim doesn’t correct his misunderstanding. Everywhere I ever heard him explain the method, he says to “just let it go.” Not implying a degree of restraint which “just a little” does imply. He says not to force it, not to try to completely empty the lungs, but he never says to only exhale “just a little.” Exhale naturally, just letting it go, then inhale deeply, filling the lungs from bottom to top and then just a little more. Don’t pause between inhaling and exhaling or vice versa. Breath just a little fast, but not uncomfortably rapidly. After about 30 to 40 breaths exhale and hold until you feel the strong urge to inhale. Then inhale deeply and hold for about 15 seconds. That is one round. Repeat 2 more times for 3 rounds. You can do more if you feel like it.

Best to lie flat on your back and relax your body. Sit up straight or in lotus position if you can fully relax like that. Be sure you are in a safe environment. Don’t do this while operating heavy machinery or in the water, or any place/situation where losing consciousness could present serious danger. A few people have (supposedly) passed out and died in shallow water doing this method.
